What Sellers Are Saying About PayPal...
Attracts Buyers Worldwide & Increase Sales
My customers come from all over
the world. I sell to more than 60 countries through eBay and my own
website. So PayPal was the perfect solution for me since it accepts
multiple currencies, is widely accepted and recognised
I really appreciate how easy it is to use PayPal. When I had my own website, PayPal was the first payment method I offered. It took me just a few minutes to get it up and running, and start accepting credit card payments online.
You don't need to know much programming language - adding PayPal to your eBay listings or integrating it into your website is really simple.
A. Cheong, Malaysia - PayPal user since 2005, with over 1000* feedback, selling toys and collectible merchandise on eBay and own website
Looking back, my
journey in online selling has been truly incredible. It all began
with my rather unique interest - I studied Japanese sword arts. To
practise my skills, I bought samurai swords. Very soon, I had a
collection of the swords, which I started selling in order to buy
newer and better ones.
Initially, I sold my items only to the Philippines market. I aspired to sell abroad and thought about setting up a merchant account with a local bank to accept online payments. But I found it too complicated to go through the process of contacting the bank, fulfilling their eligibility criteria and providing various documentations. I simply didn't have time to do all that. With PayPal, I had my account set up in no time and was ready to start selling internationally.
When you start selling online, you quickly realise that buyers are always cautious about transacting with people they don't know. Being a buyer myself, I totally understand the need for security. With PayPal, buyers feel more assured to transact with you. That's because PayPal is a trusted payment method and users know that their details are never shared with third parties.
What's more, there are millions of PayPal users all over the world - it's the key to growing your business globally. I can testify to this because I've seen my own sales double since offering PayPal.
A. Pagdanganan, Philippines - PayPal user since 2005, with over 100 feedback, selling samurai swords, collectible cigarette cases and pendants on eBay
I was looking for opportunities to set up an online business
when I decided to sell on eBay. That was also when I started using
I started selling on eBay in 2006, and I can't imagine accepting payments and managing my online business without PayPal. I've come to expect payments to be instant. Since I get my payments fast, I can ship my items more quickly, and make my customers happy.
PayPal is recognised and accepted worldwide. With millions of users, PayPal helps me capture the international market and boost my sales.

Living and working in a
developing country has its challenges and benefits. When it comes
to selling online, it's not easy to get started on your own. You
have to get a merchant account from a bank to accept payments, but
that takes time and money.
The good thing about the Philippines is that you can easily source for items that people want to buy. But, without the ability to accept payments, selling to the international market is pretty much out of my reach.
In 2005, when PayPal became available in the Philippines, I was finally able to sell to the world. I sell a variety of collectibles - everything from model jeepneys (which is a public transport unique to the Philippines) to lighters to watches. PayPal allowed me to be on the same playing field as other sellers in the US, UK and more.
Today, I sell mainly to buyers in the US, and some buyers in Europe and Asia. It's pretty amazing when you think about it. I'm on the other side of the world from my buyers, but I'm immediately credible because of PayPal - no other payment method has this level of recognition and trust.
G. Ledesma, Philippines - PayPal user since 2006, with over 900 feedback, selling a variety of collectibles on eBay
Selling on eBay started off
as a hobby when I was in university. Before I knew it, I was raking
in very good sales.
Using PayPal, I receive payments instantly and can ship my items quickly and avoid a backlog of deliveries. PayPal is also easy to use and well-recognised - I don't need to explain to buyers how to go about paying me with it.
Like all businesses, there's always a risk that transactions may not go through successfully. As an online seller, I'm exposed to risks of unauthorised transactions and buyer claims against non-delivery of item, amongst others. With PayPal, I'm able to greatly reduce these risks.
PayPal requires all users to provide personal information when they sign up for an account and has security measures to ensure they continue to meet certain standards - making online transactions safer for both buyer and sellers. PayPal's resolution process is also helpful for me. It gives me the chance to clear any misunderstandings with buyers and reach an amicable agreement if they are not satisfied with my item or service. That's why I use PayPal and encourage my buyers to pay with PayPal.
New sellers may not have enough experience to know how things work, including the risks of online selling. But PayPal makes it safe and easy for everyone to get started.
A. Wittaya, Thailand - PayPal user since 2005, with over 5000 feedback, selling women's clothing, including dresses, corsets and tops on eBay
I've always been interested in ecommerce, so in 2005, I decided
to start my own website to sell jewellery.
Unfortunately, it failed because people didn't come to my site and I didn't know how to drive traffic. Then, friends told me about eBay and I thought I'd try it out by listing a candle for sale. I also offered PayPal as a payment option since it was widely accepted on eBay. But I never thought someone as far as the US would buy the simple candle from me! I was hooked on eBay from that point!
I've learned to source rings from around Thailand and sell those now. PayPal lets me sell to buyers all around the world with peace of mind. I feel I can trust these buyers. After all, they've had to provide vital information to PayPal for verification before they can have a PayPal account.
Of course, there are always risks with online selling; but PayPal reduces these risks and the potential inconvenience. Even if I do run into transaction issues, I know I can count on PayPal for support. It especially helps when the transaction issue involves payment reversals by the buyers' credit card company. I know PayPal will facilitate the resolution process and give their best effort to get my money back. Besides, as along as I've reached a settlement with my buyers during the resolution process, I know PayPal will fully protect me against any future claim or payment reversal for that transaction.
Online selling supplements 15% of my income. I run a physical store too. If not for PayPal, I don't think I would have the time and energy to juggle both.
I recommend PayPal to everyone. I know other sellers in Thailand who use eBay and PayPal to help support their family expenses and put their children through better schools. PayPal and eBay can and have changed peoples' lives.
R. Thanaphong, Thailand - PayPal user since 2005, with over 1000 feedback, selling rings on eBay
Before offering PayPal, I had to wait for as long as a month for
cheques to arrive in the mail. When it takes that long, you can't
help but worry and wonder if they will ever reach you. Twice, I
even had my cheque stolenin the mail, and that cost me a good US
I've been using PayPal for three years now, and I haven't looked back. When buyers pay me with PayPal, I can see their payment reflected in my PayPal account immediately. I no longer have to worry about cheques getting lost or stolen in the mail. Plus, it only takes about five to seven days for the funds in my PayPal account to be transferred to my bank account, unlike cheques which can take as long as 35 to 45 days before I have access to the funds.
As an online buyer myself, my preference is to pay with PayPal. It's convenient for me to shop on ebay.be, ebay.com and ebay.co.uk since PayPal immediately converts my payment into the respective currencies applicable to the respective eBay sites. And I feel more at ease knowing that my credit card details are never shared with merchants.
E. Diokno-Bernado, Philippines - PayPal user since 2006, with over 2000 feedback, selling collectibles, musical instrument, paintin and, portraiture service on eBay
I've been offering PayPal as a
payment option since I started selling on eBay in 2005. PayPal made
it really easy for me to reach millions of international buyers in
the US, UK, Australia and Italy.
Just setting up a merchant account would have been costly, not to mention the monthly and transaction fees. With PayPal, it's free to set up and there are no monthly fees - I only pay low transaction fees. Plus, I get paid fast and avoid having to process buyer credit cards myself.
I know my buyers prefer PayPal too. You can see it in my sales - I get nearly 100% of my online payments through PayPal!
P. Wong., Singapore - PayPal user since 2005, with over 7000 feedback, selling toys, fishing equipment and camping items on eBay and on own website
I started off using PayPal as a
buyer, and I was won over by how easy it was to make payments
online. So when I became a seller, I decided to share the same good
experience with my buyers by offering PayPal as a payment option.
Furthermore, it was so simple to set up - a few clicks and it was
Getting a merchant account with the local banks, on the other hand, was just too difficult for me as they have many stringent requirements. Even if I had one, maintaining it would have been too expensive.
PayPal has helped me save not only on cost and time, but space as well! Because I get paid instantly, I can arrange immediate shipment to my buyers and not have items lying around just waiting to be delivered. It makes my buyers happy too when they get their goods fast.
PayPal gives me the confidence to continue selling online despite the potential risks. I know that PayPal has rigorous systems in place to prevent credit card fraud and minimize payment reversals - all of which contribute to a healthy bottom-line for me.
C. Fung, Malaysia - PayPal user since 2003, with over 4000 feedback, selling supplies for art and crafts on eBay
I started offering PayPal on my eBay listings only in 2007 after
friends introduced it to me - the benefits they highlighted were
compelling. What attracted me most was the ability to expand my
For about two years, I was only selling my items locally in Malaysia. Now, I have customers from Singapore, Australia and as far as the US. Although I still sell mainly to Malaysia, it feels good to know that my items are sought after even outside the country.
With PayPal, I can offer my customers a quick and convenient way to make payments. There's no need for them to deal with the hassle of mailing cheques when all it takes is a few clicks of the mouse to pay with PayPal.
It's also easy for me. I can simply track whether payments have been made or not just by logging in to my PayPal account; and I can do this anytime and anywhere.
